<Project Title: Sustainable culture of marine microorganisms, algae and/or invertebrates for high added value products>

<Description: The main purpose of the project is to contribute to the optimization and pre-implementation of a cost-effective microalgae cultivation, aimed at improving it by generating high potential biomass as a new resource, that will be used for secondary metabolites, biofertilizers, colourants and biostimulants. Also by using these harvesting processes, new biotechnology products will be developed in order to satisfy the current market needs. As a result some of the high potential products would be: bioactive compounds such as antibiotics, algicides, toxins, pharmaceutically active compounds, plants grow regulators and some vitamins. Also with microalgae we could obtain a wide variety of carotenoids and -carotene that have a high market utility.
In order to achieve the ITCR objectives, we will go through a high quality algae selection for better results and we will be growing the microalgae in photobioreactors and ponds.
