ICT and energy efficiency:
The European Commission is organising a high-level event on the contribution of information and communications technologies to the important goal of energy efficiency. Taking place in Brussels on 19th 20th March, the event targets policy and business decision-makers in the field as well as researchers and engineers interested in shaping Europe's future in this field. ICT events in Prague:
FET Open programme, in conjunction with the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Czech Technical University, will stage FET09 (http://ec.europa.eu/information_society/events/fet/2009/index_en.htm), a new European forum dedicated to frontier research in ICT. Leading scientists, policy-makers, industry representatives and science journalists will convene during 21st-23rd April to discuss today's frontier science, tomorrow's technologies and the impact of both on tomorrow's society.

In the following month the Czech presidency and the Commission will jointly sponsor a major conference on the Future Internet (http://www.fi-prague.eu/). The event will assemble European and international key speakers and bring together in a follow-on workshop the more than eighty EU research projects and national initiatives that are instrumental in defining the Internet. This conference takes place 11th 13th May.
