The InnoW@ttPA project involves different initiatives in the area of new technologies for wireless networks (as zeegbee, PCL etc.) that are going to be applied to Italian Public Administrations in order to improve energy saving and energy efficiency. The idea is to start an operational plan and different applications that have a significant impact on the Italian P.A.'s energy consumption in terms of costs reduction. The objective is to decrease by 15-20% the P.A.'s energy bill, keeping the same energy efficiency level but reducing wastes and CO2 emissions ( Kyoto protocol). Italian P.A. spends about 2.75 billion per year for energy supply. Savings of 20% means more than 500 million euro per year. Further in the last months the price raised very much due to the increased price of crude oil. Analysts say that the cost of energy will continue to increase in the coming years.
Innow@ttPA - the project design
There are different interesting applications, most of them based on the idea of a network of probes that collect data for monitoring different parameters - such as energy consumption, temperature, humidity, etc. - in real time so that it would be possible to take the right actions (saving measures) and save energy. This idea can be applied to different applications like air conditioning systems, lighting, public transportation. The networks could be also re-used for social utilities as rubbish collecting and recycling, video surveillance for public areas, building and district, etc.
This Institution wants to start , by the end of October, an experimental phase which involves few PAs. For this reason is studying a possible partnership with Telecom Italia.
