WAVENERGY II addresses the collection of the wave's energy by implementing innovative technology. It aims to test the conditions of implementation both offshore and shoreline.
The project will identify the barriers to deploy full scale -grid connected-, reliable, efficient and cost-effective wave energy systems within European Coasts, and to develop strategies for overtaking these barriers with a commercial exploitation point of view. It would be aiming at developing partnerships approach, combining local and administrative authorities, the private sector (primarily SME's) and NGO's working in the wave energy field.
WAVENERGY II project aims primarily to apply the knowledge gained on WAVENERGY I (funded under the INTERREG IIIB Atlantic Space Programme) on a full scale implementation of coastal or off-shore systems. Our main aim focuses on the integration of these systems in harbors of islands located at peripheral European regions. Such location presents more advantages than inconveniences to obtain energy in safe & easy conditions both for the marine system, the environment and the security.
