The objective of the project is to develop an innovative safety and security network that will allow railways operators permanent and complete monitoring of their infrastructures and the automatic detection of incidents. The principle behind RAILNET is to use vision and other smart sensors to automatically supervise the rail line, detect incidents and send representative information of the event to a control centre or approaching trains. Core technologies used: computer vision, innovative energy harvesting, adaptive radio networks.>
