Develop formulations of powerful lubricants starting from ingredients and additives resulting from renewable and ecological raw materials, in order to be able to answer the European criteria of "Ecolabel".

Abstract
98% of oils used in the world for lubrication are of mineral origin. These mineral oils are additived in order to confer them technical properties adapted to their applications.
European directives on:
- grounds pollution
- water and waste oils recycling
- workers protection
- dangerous molecules limitation imply for SME working on:
- Lubricants
- Metals
- Grease
- Hydraulic to find technical and ecological solutions which allow them to substitute mineral oils by vegetable oils.
Our aim in this development and research project is to bring answers to the technical problems of oil quality and additives performances noticed during the development
of formulations containing vegetable oil, in order to answer the new and future European lawful and ecological requirements.
This work requires:
1 / Breeding of oilseed varieties presenting a fatty acids profile answering the technical, economical and ecological problems of these lubricants industries. The vegetable species which is the subject of this development is the lunaria (Lunaria annua). It has naturally a high content in long chains fatty acids and exceptional lubricating properties.

2 / Contribution of technical solutions to the formulations problems:
- By doing a screening and an optimization of oxidation stabilizers used in food industry, and transferring them in the lubricants fields. It will allow development of lunaria esters less sensitive to oxidation and substitution of a part of mineral oils.
- By creating emulgators containing lunaria much more compatible with vegetable oils.
3/ Validation of these new formulation performance in production and industrial tests applications in cooperation with the partner users.
