<Project Title: AWAKE: Advances towards Well-being And the Knowledge
Economy>
<Financial Scheme: >
<Description: This 3 year large scale collaborative integrating
project provides a prospective analysis of knowledge, it its varied
forms, related to economic growth and social well-being and cohesion.
Central to the work plan is the collection, analysis and dissemination
of knowledges that inform the development, monitoring and evaluation
of policies in Europe.

The 15 work packages provide:
o        scientific and technical research through the mapping and analysis
of policies and practices on knowledge, incentives, and economic and
social well-being
o        an implementation framework based upon detailed management practices
and structures that establish and support a project quality system,
and
o        the use of project results through an impact strategy that runs
across all 3 years.

Partners will be drawn from 10 countries across the EU to reflect the
different histories, cultures, economic profiles, social policies on
knowledge and economic growth, and dates of accession to the EU.
Experts on major partner economies, Australasia, China, India, Russia
and US, will also be members of the project consortia. The energy
industry provides a cross national and global comparator. In addition
to this exemplar, each partner country will select a leading edge,
enterprise in a growth sector for example, in consumer services,
education and training services, health and pharmaceutical, and
knowledge technologies.
The project is transnational and transdisciplinary. The skills
available will integrate the humanities and social sciences, and
include consumer studies, economics, geography, history, philosophy,
sociology and social policy. This approach ensures a synthesis of
knowledges that allows the consortia to pursue innovation and generate
new knowledge on the topic. A blend of methods will allow for the
breadth and depth of issues to be documented and analysed. Results
will be disseminated on an on-going basis, culminating in fore
sighting to locate European experiences and data in a global context.
